COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
WHAT IS DIRECT PRIMARY CARE?
-
IS IT THE SAME AS CONCIERGE MEDICINE?
-
Not exactly. While DPC may offer a similar level of personalized service, concierge practices typically bill insurance and also charge a retainer fee.
-
In DPC, we never bill your insurance for our services.
-
-
CAN I SEE YOU IF I'M NOT A MEMBER?
-
Primary care-related visits (including acute sick visits) are exclusively available only to our members.
-
We do offer non-members consultations for weight loss and lifestyle medicine programs
-
-
IS THERE A LONG-TERM COMMITMENT?
-
Certainly not! If the membership isn't working out, you can feel free to cancel at any time. Please note, a re-enrollment fee will apply for former members wishing to rejoin the practice.
-
-
WHAT DOES THE MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP COVER?
-
The monthly fee covers all our doctor services. Check out our full list of services for primary care and lifestyle medicine that we offer our patients.
-
There are certain procedures (ex. mole biopsy, pap smear) where the procedure is free, however patients are responsible for any off-site costs (example lab or pathology fees). Patients can choose to use their insurance, or pay the low cash fee negotiated by your doctor -which sometimes is cheaper than the cost with insurance!
-
-
WHY IS THERE A REGISTRATION FEE?
-
The one-time $150 registration fee covers the time Dr. Rogers takes preparing for your appointment by obtaining and reviewing your available old records, building your chart and assessing your health. This process is important so we hit the ground running at your very first visit!
-
-
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
-
No we do not take any health insurance. We are unable to provide the highest quality service while operating within the restrictive bureaucracy of the insurance system. You still need insurance for emergencies, specialists and testing. Much of what we are able to offer for cash pricing ends up being cheaper than if you used insurance!
-
-
CAN I JOIN IF I HAVE MEDICARE/ MEDICAID?
-
Medicare: we are happy to see you, although neither the patient nor office will be able to bill Medicare for the doctor's services. You can still use Medicare to pay for all the health services.
-
Medicaid: unfortunately, Medicaid considers us a non-participating physician and we are not in their network, so we are unable to provide services at this time
-
-
CAN MEMBERSHIP BE COVERED BY MY HSA or FSA ?
-
At this time, the IRS does not consider primary care monthly membership fees eligible for these accounts, since Direct Primary Care did not exist when these accounts were rolled out. Legislative change is being actively considered. Please consult with your tax accountant on how to use your HSA funds.
-
-
DO I PAY WHEN I SIGN UP? WHEN DOES BILLING START
-
Your membership is activated at the time of enrollment; after this time you have full access to the doctor. Monthly billing occurs on the 1st of the month.

-
WHAT IS YOUR POLICY ON CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES ?
-
Dr Rogers works in the spirit of "do no harm" and for this reason we do not routinely prescribe potentially harmful controlled substances such as chronic benzodiapenes (xanax, ativan, klonopin) for anxiety. We also avoid treating chronic pain with opioids. For new patients already established on these medications, we will work with patients to explore safer alternatives and wean off these medications if possible, or refer to the appropriate specialist as needed.
